Direct Billing

Definition

Direct Billing (Canadian insurance context): A service arrangement whereby a Canadian healthcare or dental provider electronically submits a patient’s covered claim to the patient’s insurance company at the time of treatment, thereby allowing the insurer to pay its portion directly to the provider without the patient first paying the full bill out-of-pocket and later seeking reimbursement.
