Definition
Comprehensive Coverage (Auto): A voluntary section of a standard Canadian personal automobile policy that insures your vehicle against damage or loss caused by events that do not involve a collision with another car or object. It protects against risks such as theft, vandalism, fire, hail, windstorm, falling or flying objects, civil disturbance, lightning, and impact with an animal. Coverage is subject to a deductible chosen by the policyholder and pays up to the actual cash value of the vehicle at the time of loss, less the deductible.
